Beauty Revived | Darby Debusk
As part of my ongoing commitment to photograph all of the seniors that were nominated for my recent Beauty Revived contest, this morning I had the honor of meeting and photographing Darby Debusk, a high school senior currently living in Allen, TX.
Darby drove all the way down to San Antonio for her session, which meant that the dark, rainy weather we were having when we arrived at Landa Park for her session wasn't going to stop us! We pushed through with the help of Darby's mom, who acted as a "stand-in sun" and did the hard work of holding a speedlight in one hand and a shoot-thru umbrella in the other.
I would love to share the sweet words I received about Darby from her mom Lisa, who nominated Darby for the Beauty Revived session:
"While we lived in Italy (moved back just in the last couple of weeks), Darby taught English as a second language to Italian children. Darby helped tutor Italian in their English homework. Darby also helped to run a week of Kids' Games....a free week for Italian children to have fun, play games, and learn more about sports. Darby has also been involved in our church's youth worship time, leading worship for the middle and high school youth on Sunday mornings and Wednesday evenings. Before we left for Italy, Darby was involved in helping the elderly in our community by helping take care of their lawns, bringing food, and just joining them for a companion and helping them feel less lonely.
Darby is amazing in so many ways! She has an older sister, a younger sister, and two little brothers. Darby is the best big sister! She helps them with homework, reads to them before bed, makes their Halloween costumes, and dotes on them and shows them so much love and grace. Darby sings beautifully and has lead the worship in her youth worship time, and lead worship at an Italian outreach (when we lived in Italy) during Thanksgiving. Darby exemplifies grace and love to all she knows! She has a ready smile for anyone, accepts others, and includes others into her group. She hates seeing others mistreated or not included so she takes extra steps to make everyone feel special and wanted. What a gift she has! Darby is talented in photography, and loves to capture nature at the height of what God intended it to be. I am so proud to be her mother and couldn't be happier to also call her friend."
Lisa, thank you from the bottom of my heart for allowing me to spend a few minutes getting to know you and for letting me create these images of your sweet daughter. I hope you enjoy your weekend in San Antonio!
